ACCOUNT DELETION
Delete your GiftDrop account.
You do not need to sign in, and you do not need the app. Tell us the email address on the account and we will delete it once we have checked that it is yours.
What happens when you ask through this page
We verify that you control the address, then erase the account: your name, your email address, your profile picture and every stored sign-in identity are removed, so Google, Apple or Microsoft can no longer reach it; every session on every device is signed out; if you signed in with Apple, we ask Apple to revoke the authorisation; and the email address held in our security records is cleared. It cannot be undone. Until a person has verified the address and completed the request, your name and your email address stay on the record, and we will confirm when it is done.
What we keep, and why
The record of each donation, the charity it went to and its receipt number. Australian fundraising and tax law require us to keep the transaction; they do not require us to keep you, so those records no longer carry your name or your address. We also keep a record of which of your own pages you opened while signed in. It stays attached to the account record, which by then no longer holds your name, your address or any way to sign in.
Your gift cards are not ours to delete. They are held on your phone and never sent to us, so removing the app removes them. We never receive a card's full number, balance, security code or PIN. If you donated a card's balance, the donation record keeps that card's brand and its last four digits, as Stripe reports them, and nothing else about it. A donation made in an earlier version of the iPhone app also records the card's network and issuer.
How long it takes
A person handles each request, because this form cannot prove who you are — anyone can type any address into it. We check that you control the address before we erase anything, and we will write back either way. If you are signed in on the website you can instead open My GiftDrop › Settings and choose Request account closure. A person handles that too, so it is no faster.
